Tonight, Eva fell asleep with Sawdust curled in her arms. They looked so cute together. Sawdust is the cat that we adopted. He was going to be put to sleep, but we saved him and brought him home. Eva instantly fell in love with him, but it took a couple of weeks for Sawdust to reciprocate. Now they're practically inseparable. They spend hours upon hours amusing each other. Just this weekend, they played "catch the string" for nearly two hours straight.

It's been over a year since Eva came to live with us. She used to be a stranger, but now she's part of our family. Sure, we don't know a lot about her past, because she doesn't divulge that, but that's quite understandable given her history. I mean, I certainly wouldn't want to dredge up the past if I had gone through what she's gone through. I think she just wants to forget that the evils of her childhood ever happened.

The few times that Janine and I brought it up, she politely declined to discuss it. We're not too worried about it because her therapist says that it's something that they'll eventually address, when the time is appropriate. Other than the details of her childhood, she's been very open and honest about everything. I think that's because she still has great fear of disappointing us.
